Michelle Ballasiotes and Amber Boatright are outgoing, exuberant and passionate young ladies. They are also pediatric stroke survivors. Michelle had a blood vessel burst on the left side of her brain before birth and to this day, nobody knows why her stroke happened. Today Michelle has right hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy and undergoes continuous physical therapy.

Amber was a vibrant cheerleader with dreams of college when she suffered a massive stroke three days before beginning her senior year of high school. After her stroke, Amber had to relearn the basics including speech. Today she struggles with short and long term memory loss making daily living and college difficult.

These amazing girls have turned their personal experiences into inspiration with a goal to ensure that everyone knows that Kids Have Strokes Too! Join them as they spend the year sharing their stories, raising awareness and funds and advocating in Washington, DC at Lobby Day.

The American Heart Association is the largest voluntary health organization working to prevent, treat and defeat heart disease, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases, the Nation's No.1 and No.3 killers, claim more than 865,000 American lives a year. Thanks to all our walkers, donors and volunteers who have accepted the challenge to help fight heart disease and stroke. We cannot achieve our mission without each one of you!
